Fish do not thave ear openings, but they do have ears (but inside their body called inner ears), So they can hear alright! Their body density is equal to that of water, hence sound passes right through their skin, hence no need of an ear opening!

in case of humans, its not possible, hence we have a specialized opening for the ear!
