Based on the rock samples collected by the Apollo, and some soviet probes, scientists say there are two types of rocks on moon : anorthosite and basalt.
        Although, i like Peter’s answer !

383 kg were picked up from the moon during Apollo mission to analyse it. The age of the moon is 4.6 milliard of years, but its surface modified and were different 1.5 milliard later. You can see on the surface of the moon some ‘sea’ called lunar mare, where the the structure shown a magma activity at a point rich in basalt. However, since Apollo mission, we know better and on 10 cm on the moon surface is only dust under that you find a regolith layer (layer of loose) of 10 m deep. The moon is really light, 81 times less than earth, the rocks and particles they took were really dry without any water crystallised. Those elements are rich in C, O, Ca, Ti and Mn.
