Elements need a certain number of protons and neutrons in their nucleus’ to make them stable elements. The heavier an elements is, it is increasingly harder to stabilise (hence radioactive decay happens). The island of stability is a theory that atomic nucleus can be built up in shells of neutrons and protons (much like electrons shells) and lead to stable isotopes of currently very unstable elements.

The island of stability is a set of predicted, but as-yet undiscovered, heavier isotopes of transuranium elements which are theorized to be much more stable than some of those closer in atomic number to uranium.
