All molecules are made of atoms. Atoms can be divided in to electrons, protons and neutrons. The protons and neutrons exist at the centre of an atom in a nucleus, and each are made up of subatomic particles called quarks – but that is as about as small as it gets!

Quarks are the smallest. They form atoms which form molecules.
