Hi Ellen, its true drugs have become a very important part of our life system, and have helped in increasing the average life of a person.

Although, i have been involved in drug design (designing new potential drugs), i have also been involved in developing new chemical reactions that could make the synthesis of known drugs much easier, cheaper and using environment friendly chemicals. Thus, in a way i would say i am contributing to the overall science, and publishing my results, which people can use to make some useful product. That is how science works, it is very rare that a person alone could make drugs that could cure diseases, it involves many people to make that happen!

A drug development take a minimum of 10-15 years to be on the market. I am unfortunately too young for having one of my drugs on the market. However, the molecules I developed during my PhD are currently testing on animal (pre-clinical tests) and the molecules I am currently doing are also. So hopefully in few years.
