      mermaids no as they would not be able to get oxygen from the water. unicorns I don’t see why not.

      Hi Rosie May, Sorry to disappoint but I don’t think mermaids will ever exist. You could say a unicorn does exist – just not as you picture it. Narwhals, are whales which have a large horn which can grow up to 3 metres long, they are nicknamed “Unicorns of the North”. The horn is actually an overgrown tooth which comes out of hole in their upper lip, they use it for jousting, but not sure why they evolved to get this tusk.
      There was documentary on the BBC “Frozen Planet” which featured Narwhals – here’s a clip of it.
