In biology and for drug development we use cells everyday. We call that in-vitro studies, so of course I agree with stem cells research. Any cells studies are needed when you do research for biological application.

Stem cells (undifferentiated cells i.e.they are just cells not muscles cells or heart cells) come from different sources. (such as bone marrow or from the umbilical cord after birth). There are really no ethical concerns as people can freely donate them. the ethical concerns seem to come from the use of embryonic stems cells where depending on your point of view you may be creating “life”. I personally don’t believe that there is any problem using a collection of cells that are not a “human being” other people would consider that life beings as soon as fertilization occurs.
