• Question: If certain illegal drugs could save or help cure someone could hospitals use them in treatment?

      Well, if its an illegal drug, most probably not, because the adverse effects of that drug would be too high. But, if they are able to find some constituents of that drug, which is able to cure a disease and able to isolate it, then its possible .
      There is an example of cannabis. Cannabis is a plant and it has many chemical consituents, out of which tetrahydrocannabinoid are known for its addictive effect, But there are some constituents like the molecule cannabidiol (CBD) which has an antipsychotic effect and could help with anxiety disorders. Clinical trials are on to make this molecule available as a drug.

      drugs are only made illegal if people abuse them, some drugs (such as morphine) are very good for treatment. Drugs such as LSD and MDMA (ecstacy) may have medicinal use. LSD for alcohol addiction and MDMA for post traumatic stress disorder.
