  our genes and environment affect our personality. they really make us.

  Some part is the genes affecting (what we have inherited from our parents), rest is the way of upbringing, the environment where we are brought up, and the situations we go through in life! (these are the major factors, genes have just a small role to play)

Yes, every person has a basic genetic material (DNA, RNA, etc.) It is mainly the genes behind DNA which inherit the traits from parents/family tree.
