I am close to finishing a PhD in synthetic chemistry

Work History:

All over! Study Abroad Program at the University of Texas, Austin (2009-10); Summer Fellowship at Kyoto University, Japan (2013)

Current Job:

Studying for my PhD (Doctorate…. the “Dr” title)

Employer:

University of Bristol / EPSRC Funded

Me and my work

I stick sugars to metals and try to do new types of chemistry.

My Typical Day

Coffee, purify reactions, coffee and read about chemistry, set up new reactions, coffee and have delusions of grandeur.

What I'd do with the money

Give it to our OutReach Programme and help school kids get into science

I did not know

I got caught occasionally

Chemsitry… but photography was a close second

What's the best thing you've done as a scientist?

Getting the opportunity to travel

What or who inspired you to become a scientist?

I had a very inspiring chemistry teacher at school; from that my sheer enjoyment of the subject has been enough to drive and lead me to where I am.

If you weren't a scientist, what would you be?

Um… hard to say; something in an office?
